THE BLOG FOR THE ADVENTUROUS TRAVELER WHO LOVES A TOUCH OF LUXURY NOW AND THEN
Hi! I am Charlotte! First of all thank you for visiting my blog!
If you would have told me 5 years ago that by now I would have my very own moneymaking travel blog I would have stared at you with the biggest confusion in my eyes.
Cause 5 years ago I didn’t know anything about photography, professional editing, let alone writing code or designing my own website.
Everything that you see here, I learned on my own 🙂
I have always loved to travel and even more I LOVE sharing photos. When I was 22 I went on my first backpacking trip. And no I didn’t go for the safe option of simply backpacking through Europe. I immediately went hardcore and went to South East Asia and spent the night in a cave in the middle of the Taman Negara jungle in Malaysia. Go hard or go home, right?! It was during this trip that I realized that the world had so much more to offer and I wanted to see as much as possible!
I would ask friends if they wanted to travel with me to a far off destination but every time I would get a big fat “No, I don’t have time or I am already traveling with my boyfriend”. So, I stayed home. Not the smartest move when I look back on it.
Two years later I finally found friends that wanted to go exploring as well and I joined them on trip through Chile, Peru and Argentina. Until this day this is one of my best trips yet plus I got to spend my birthday on Machu Pichu!
The next 3 years I spent pouring blood, sweat, tears and a lot of my hard earned money in a relationship that turned out in the end wasn’t worth all of that effort. Coming out of it I was so mad at myself for not putting myself first and always catering to someone else’s needs. By that time I was 29, a successful paediatric dentist but my life didn’t really feel like my own. And it was during those last months that I decided that enough was enough. I was gonna put myself first and travel to foreign countries.
The relationship ended pretty quickly when I decided to do so but I decided to use my pain in a positive way and focus on learning new things. I went on a retreat and learned all about photography, editing and branding. And slowly but steadily I started to believe in myself again and gained my confidence back!
During the first year of my blog I traveled as much as I could. Together with my partner in crime Kate we went from country to country trying to capture as many beautiful places as possible. All the while singing along to Disney and Taylor Swift in the car.
Over the next months I visited India, Cinque Terre, Turkey, Jordan, Egypt, Iceland and South Africa.
I was still working at a practice as a paediatric dentist but asked for a leave of 3 months to go on a whirlwind trip to Asia. Looking back on it I am really happy I traveled to as many countries there as possible but if I would do it again I would do it a little slower.
In just 3 months in 2019 I visited Myanmar, Thailand, China, Japan, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Bali, Abu Dhabi and Morocco. And until this very day I still haven’t finished all of those travel guides..
Then of course 2020 rolled in and we all know what happened then. But on the positive side, I finally met my match! Christof and I met in June of 2020 and have been inseparable ever since. We both developed a love for the outdoors and love spending our holidays outside in nature.
Together we’ve already traveled to Germany, the Dolomites, Iceland, Norway, the Balkan, Canada, France and Greece. And I know that there will be a lot of adventures in our future as well!
Fast forward to 2022 and this year I also opened up my very own dental practice, exclusively for kids! And while a lot of people thought I would give up on my blog, I don’t think I will ever do that. I might not have the time to make this my full time job but I simply love writing detailed travel guides.
On holiday I already think about which articles I want to write and I then try to capture photos that will go with those articles. It’s such a rewarding feeling to then see it all come together. And especially to read your comments and messages saying my guides have helped you plan your trip!
Over the past years this blog has grown massively and we now reach millions of people every single year. Something that I could have only dreamed of before. But the goal has remained the same all these years. Inspire people to explore more and take a leap to go on that adventure!
So thank you for making this possible!
