As soon as you enter the property be prepared to be transported into a world of luxury and magic. They don’t call it the Suryagarh experience for nothing.
Not only is it one of the most luxurious hotels in India it also transports you back into a time where maharaja’s roamed these halls and courtyards.

Every morning breakfast is served in the main courtyard and accompanied by a flute player who sits 1 floor higher up and has an overview of the entire area.

Truthfully, I never felt more like a real life Disney princess then I did at this very moment. As soon as you sit down, the spectacle starts: ducks are waddling down the stairs, a peacock spreads his tail in all it’s glory, white doves are nestling themselves in the shade and two donkeys, Romeo & Juliette, are free to roam the courtyard. Every animal has it’s own supervisor and is being treated with the best care possible.
The Suryagarh wants you to have the best experience possible in Jaisalmer and provides exclusive trips guided by one of their professionals. They will take you to unexplored places, roam the Thar desert with you and all of this accompanied by the finest luxury you can imagine.
To Relax
To unwind and relax after a day of exploring there are several possibilities at your disposal:
- Rait – The Spa: opt for one of their signature massages, facials or hair treatments and choose your favourite scented oil. After 1 hour you’ll find yourself perfectly relaxed to kickstart your day again.
- Neel – The Pool: perfect to escape the scorching sun and hidden away in the shade of the of the fortress.
- Akhara – The Gym: get your daily workout in at this state-of-the-art gym that offers all of the equipment you will need.
Or you can choose to relax in one of the luxurious rooms Suryagarh Jaisalmer has to offer. I was staying at the Jaisalmer Suite which comes with it’s private pool on top of the fortress.

On our first evening we were invited to a cultural evening. Mehboob Khan and his fellow artists are true magicians when it comes to playing folk music. Their songs are passed on from generation to generation and make you dream of places far far away.

Afterwards we got ready for the Thar Dinner at the Celebration Gardens. The Thar Dinner pays an hommage to the culinary traditions of travellers who crossed the Thar to Jaisalmer. It’s a celebratory feast in the most amazing setting. A sky full of stars and seated in between the softest pillows you can enjoy this lavish dining experience.

To end the day on a perfect note enjoy one of Suryagarhs house cocktails in the hotel’s bar: Draksh.
Get ready for a good night’s sleep cause the next day this magical experience will start all over again and believe me when I tell you you don’t want to miss a second of it!
