What to expect – camper van
Happy 2 – Iceland

- Perfect living space for 2 people
- Separate heating button that runs on an extra battery – turn it on 30 minutes before you go to sleep, then turn off. Turn it on again 30 minutes before you have to wake up and get dressed.
- Storage space underneath the seat for 2 big suitcases
- Big open space in front of the sofa that you can easily reach from the front seat – very convenient since it allows you to avoid going outside into the cold every time
- 2 pillows and blankets + a cover to put over the seat – sleeping bags are available and I definitely recommend taking them with you since the nights in Iceland are freezing.
- WiFi when driving
- An inverter to charge your gear while driving (extra cost)
- 2 foldable chairs (extra cost) – we actually didn’t use these in Iceland because of the cold – same goes for the foldable table
- Cool-box to keep food fresh
- 4 cabinets for storage of cooking utilities and food
- Gas cooking plate to prepare your meals inside the camper van
- 1 extra light in the back of the camper van
- 2 USB-ports in front – only to use when driving – one connects to the radio so you can play your own music
- 24/7 live tracking – very important if something were to happen
- Map of your entire adventure

What to expect – Trip
Iceland

Before we started our adventure with Happy Campers it is important to map out your route and know that you will make a lot of extra and unexpected stops!

Waking up with the best view in town? Done. Iceland has some of the most scenic campsites out there. From having breakfast in front of Skogafoss to taking a warm and relaxing dip in the many hot pods that Iceland has to offer, everything is possible when driving a camper van through Iceland.
Especially as a blogger travelling with a Happy Campers van is very convenient since you always have all of your equipment safely storaged and at hand. Or when you miscalculate an outfit because of the ever changing weather? No problem, you have your entire closet with you at all times!

The Happy Campers van also proved to be a champ in the ever changing weather conditions! I drove through an actual Icelandic storm with wind gusts that would scare the most experienced driver. Well the Happy 2 performed excellent and maintained it’s balance at all times. Even on an icy mountain pass the Happy Campers van stood it’s ground and got us safely on the other side!

South Africa
When travelling through South Africa not many people tend to think of doing it by camper van. Well have I got some news for you – It is absolutely amazing!

Also, the area surrounding Cape Town is actually very safe, despite what other people had warned me about before. We actually never felt unsafe, not at any moment!

What’s the difference between travelling with a camper van in Iceland and South Africa?

Do the campsites have showers? And do you usually just pee on the side of the road?
Charlotte says
Yes they do! Pretty much all of the campsites in Iceland come with decent facilities. A lot of the attractions that you visit also have a toilet nearby so go either there or at a gas station.
During longer hikes it could occur I would have to pee in the wild.
