There’s so much to see and do in the Canadian Rockies that I can guarantee you won’t be bored for a second!
I recommend visiting the Canadian Rockies for at least a week, but 2 weeks is way more ideal for a Canadian holiday. And know that no matter how long you choose to spend in this wonderful part of the world you’ll have an absolutely fantastic time!
The best time to plan a Canadian Rockies road trip is late summer and early fall. By then all of the snow will have melted, the weather will be warm and you’ll be able to enjoy all the activities. Do know that this is also high season and that campings can book up pretty fast during this season.

Iceland
So far I’ve visited Iceland three times and every single time I went on a road trip with a camper. It’s an adventurous way to discover the island but you won’t regret the lack of luxury for a single second.
Iceland, also known as the Land of Ice and Fire, will leave you speechless from the moment you arrive. During your road trip you’ll drive by tons of waterfalls, rugged cliffs and spectacular canyons. During a road trip in Iceland you’ll quickly notice that it’s not so much about the destination but more about the road leading to it.
The best time to go on a road trip through Iceland is during the summer. The days are long and all of the roads will be open, also the ones leading to the elusive Icelandic Highlands. When traveling to Iceland. in the summer you’ll have plenty of time with just 1 week. If you want to go on a road trip in Iceland during the winter you’ll definitely need 2 weeks. The days are much shorter and driving conditions will be a lot harder.

Jordan
Jordan is by far one of the most beautiful countries I ever visited and honestly, if I could I would go back in a heartbeat. This Middle Eastern country has something to offer for every kind of traveler: adventurous jeep tours through the desert of Wadi Rum, relaxing days by the Dead Sea or simply admiring the historical and architectural wonders that Jordan has to offer. It’s the perfect holiday spot if you’re looking for a little more adventure with a side of relaxation and luxury.
If you’re looking for an adventurous trip you’ll love exploring the ancient city of Petra through multiple day hikes or even better, spend the night in the beautiful desert of Wadi Rum. For an extra adrenaline rush you can even go hiking through the river canyon at Wadi Mujib. If you’re after relaxation you can do so at one of the luxury hotels next to the Dead Sea. And if you’re a history and architecture lover you’ll be in for a real treat when visiting the historical sites of Petra, Jerash and Amman. Norway
If you love spending time outdoors and you want to immerse yourself in spectacular nature then an adventurous road trip through Norway is just what you need! From discovering the Norwegian fjords, exploring the most beautiful National Parks, searching for wildlife and getting soaked next to waterfalls. This Norway road trip is for those who love to explore the more of the beaten path places.
We did our road trip through Norway with a camper van and I would do so again in a heartbeat. We chose a camper van from WeCamp and absolutely loved it! It was very spacious and comfortable and it truly felt like our home away from home during these 2 weeks. Not to forget, I had some of my best nights’ sleep on that bed!
Norway is an incredibly vast country and if you only have 2 weeks I recommend sticking to either Southern or Northern Norway. For exploring the south you’ll fly into Oslo, for exploring the north you’ll fly into Tromsø. If you have 4 weeks you can easily drive around the entire country. You simply pick up your car in Oslo and drop it off in Tromsø, or the other way around.
The best time to go on a road trip around Norway is from June to September. The weather will be nice and the days will be longer so you can explore more within the timespan of a single day.

Madeira
Madeira is one of those countries that really took me by surprise. I had heard many good things but nothing could have prepared me for what I saw when we landed. It truly looks like the European Hawaï.
This island is a dream come true for anyone who loves to be outdoors cause Madeira is home to some of the most beautiful hiking trails in the world. With over 450 different hiking trails there’s definitely a trail for everyone. One day you’ll find yourself standing underneath a waterfall in the jungle, the next day you’ll be gazing over the cliffs at one of the spectacular veredas.
During this road trip you will see incredible viewpoints, waterfalls and landscapes that will leave you wondering if you have actually stepped onto one of the sets of Jurassic Park. Not to worry, velociraptors are not included in our itinerary ;).
So far I’ve been to Madeira twice. The first time I chose Funchal as a base, the second time we stayed at São Jorge up in the north of Madeira.
The best time to visit Madeira is during Spring and Autumn. This way you’ll avoid the hottest and busiest months during the summer season and also the rainy days during winter. I recommend to stay at least 1 week so you can see all of the highlights and complete the best hiking trails.

Switzerland
Switzerland is one of those countries that speaks to the imagination. Mountains that reach high into the sky, green meadows that are ringing with the sound of cowbells and lakes as turquoise as the most vibrant jewelry.
Since I am from Belgium I can easily reach Switzerland by car since it’s only 6.5 hours driving from where I live. During my first road trip through Switzerland I tried to see as much as possible, from the small villages around Interlaken, to the fairytale vibes of Ticino and the impressive mountain peaks of Appenzell. I drove through one of the most famous mountain passes and tasted as much of the local food as possible.
For an epic experience you should at least take 2 weeks to drive around Switzerland and if you have more time don’t hesitate for a second! You could easily spend months in this stunning country without ever getting bored.
The best time to go on an adventurous road trip around Switzerland is from June to October. You’ll be able to enjoy the spectacular hiking trails and pretty much all of the mountain passes will be open.
