The Best Hotel in Petra – Petra Marriott Hotel Review
As soon as I arrived at the Petra Marriott I felt right at home. You see the day before I had been in a little “accident”. Me and my friend had paid a visit to Wadi Mujib, a beautiful canyon with a river streaming through it near the Dead Sea. As soon as we arrived we ventured into the canyon, ready to take some awesome photos but alas I came down wrong on my left foot and twisted my ankle. I quickly realized something was wrong but still pushed through to create the content that I wanted. Probably not the best idea to start waddling through the water over slippery rocks but oh well, if I have an idea in my head I’ll always push through no matter what.
But 2 hours later my ankle was starting to see all sorts of purple and blue and even resting it on top of the dashboard was starting to hurt. By the end of the evening I couldn’t even hop around on one leg and my ankle was hurting so bad it even made me cry at times. And not just from the pain, but also from frustration. I had made so many plans for the upcoming days but I couldn’t even get out of bed.
The following day it was time to check in at the 5 star luxury hotel in Petra, the Petra Marriott. As soon as we arrived they parked our car for us and welcomed us with a refreshing drink. They did however notice that I was limping all the way through the lobby and immediately offered to help me.

We started with a delicious lunch out on the terrace and caught a first glimpse of the breathtaking surroundings. But afterwards it was time for me to rest, put my foot up and put ice on it. After a while I received a call from the reception. And one thing I do have to mention here, this wasn’t a hotel collaboration, I was a regular customer here. But they asked if I wanted a medical massage on the house to help me with my ankle. Of course I said yes and twenty minutes later I was taken such good care of!
It’s honestly incredible what a good medical treatment can do cause by the evening I was actually able to walk again and I could start looking forward to visiting Petra the next day.
That evening we were in for a treat and started by sipping on some delicious cocktails by the main pool. The sun was setting over the mountains behind us and created a magical environment.

After cocktail hour it was time to enjoy a traditional Bedouin dinner at the Al Matal Bedouin Tent. Here we enjoyed authentic Bedouin drinks, traditional dishes (Zarb, Mandi), and music under a bedouin tent. The food was finger licking good, the atmosphere perfect and the view astounding. I have to admit when they put the meat on top fo the rice and buried that pot in the ground I did have my doubts but damn… It was one of the best dishes I had during my entire trip in Jordan!
