For me the term preset is pretty self explanatory. However, I recently realised that’s not he case for a lot of people! A couple of days ago I had a conversation with my boyfriend and I told him all about my plan to release new presets. He got a very confused look on his face and I realised he had no idea what I was talking about and had never heard of the term ‘presets’ before.
For those of you who feel the same way but who are intrigued here’s a little explanation! A preset is created in the software Adobe Lightroom, which is used to edit photos. When you start editing a photo from scratch there are different parameters that you can change: exposure, contrast, vibrance, texture, split toning. All of these settings together create a unique preset, also known as a photo filter.
This new preset pack consist of 14 brand new and unique photo filters:
- 14 desktop presets for Adobe Lightroom Classic: you’ll use these presets when you edit your photos on your PC.
- 14 mobile presets for the free Lightroom Mobile app: you can use these presets to edit your mobile photos on the go.
For this new preset pack I wanted to switch things up a little and create a pack with different editing styles. Below I explain what every preset does and how to use them!
Keep On Dreaming Preset Collection
Signature Style Presets
These presets are all my typical editing style: dreamy and vibrant edits where the colours are enhanced and changed a little. Every edit shown below was a 1 click edit, no further adjustments were made after applying the preset.
Preset 1 – Fresh
This preset will brighten up your photo and focusses on making your blues and greens more vibrant. Thx to the amount of highlights you’ll always end up with a dreamy looking sky that makes it look like you stepped inside a painting. It’s one of my personal favourites that I used on all of my recent photos from the Dolomites and Berchtesgaden.
Preset 2 – Fresh 2
This preset is a perfect fit for outside photos that were taken in the middle of the day! The colours remain vibrant but thanks to the different tone settings you’ll end up with a warmer looking photo. I used this preset on all of my photos from Switzerland!
Preset 3 – Cotton Candy
This is the first brand new preset I created in this pack and I am soooo damn proud of it! The split toning on this preset is completely unique and a little bit unexpected to be honest but I love the effect it has on my photos! This preset will brighten up your photos and give the greens and oranges a soft and faded look. I used this preset for weeks and consider it also one of my favourites!
Preset 4 – Cotton Candy 2
This preset uses the same undertones as the previous one but also adds more contrast, vibrance and has some darker tones. It’s my go to preset to give myself beautiful olive tanned looking skin while I am actually as white as a bottle of milk. I used this preset on nearly all of my photos from Belgium!
Preset 5 – Rust
Another preset favourite that I created during the lockdown. The Rust preset will give your photos a more vintage painting look. Every time I used this preset I got sooo many compliments on my editing style and I can’t wait to see your edits!
Preset 6 – Rust 2
Rust 2 is the perfect preset to give your photos a more soft and vintage look. The warm undertones bring out your skin tone and take away any redness in your face. Your blues will have a more turquoise vibe which also makes this the perfect preset to edit tropical photos. Below you can find examples of one click edits with this preset!
Preset 7 – Morning Glory 2
While it’s name might say something else this preset is actually perfect for both sunrise and sunset photos. Created to enhance the original soft colours but also adding a little dash of pink for that extra dreamy effect! Below are some of my favourite older sunrise and sunset photos that I edited with this new preset!
Tip – After applying this preset you will have to play around with the exposure and highlights, don’t be scared to turn it down a little to get more details in the sky!
Preset 8 – Moody
This is the first “moody” preset I ever created and I absolutely love it! This preset is perfect to add a little mysterious vibe to your photos where you’re out and about in nature! I edited some of my previous photos with this brand new preset below!
Preset 9 – Moody 2
This second moody preset is a little softer in the lighting and makes your greens look a little more faded. One thing you get for free is the fabulous tan it gives your skin!
Preset 10 – Shine Bright
This is THE preset you need when you have to edit photos that were taken in harsh light. Take for example this day in the Dolomites… there wasn’t a single cloud in the entire sky which caused for harsh shadows everywhere! This preset will take care of everything and also makes the colours soft and vibrant!
While I was designing this new preset pack I really wanted to include something for everyone! And while it’s always a lot of fun to completely transform photos you don’t want to do that in every situation! That’s why I decided to create these classic presets as well. I use them to edit portraits, family photos or when I only want to make minor tweaks to a photo.
Preset 11 – Portrait
I present you my very first portrait preset! No colour changes, just tiny enhancements to make your photo pop, your skin glow and the light perfect!
Preset 12 – Portrait 2
Another preset perfect if you like to up your editing game without making all too many changes to your photo! I actually used this preset to edit some family photos and love how they improved the clarity!
Preset 13 – Flower Field
This preset is my go to one to add a little more warmth to my sunset photos or a little more colour to my flower field photos! Below you can find some of the photos where I used this specific preset!
Preset 14 – Morning Glory
The original Morning Glory preset doesn’t have a touch of pink but is set to bring out the original sunrise and sunset colours! I edited some of my favourite photos with this brand new preset!
I hope you’ll have as much fun editing as I did creating these new presets! If you have any questions either write a comment below or contact me on @charliespresets
