Welcome to Juzcar, the enchanting little village in Spain that took a leap from traditional to extraordinary by turning itself into a real-life Smurf village!
Once a typical white pueblo in Andalusia, Juzcar transformed in 2011, when its buildings were painted bright blue for the premiere of “The Smurfs” movie. The villagers loved the vibrant makeover so much that they voted to keep their homes Smurf-blue permanently, making Juzcar an instant hit among travelers seeking quirky and unique destinations.
Here, you can wander through cobblestone streets surrounded by azure buildings, feel like you’ve stepped into a cartoon, and immerse yourself in a world of whimsy and wonder.
Whether you’re a Smurfs fan or simply in love with offbeat travel experiences, Juzcar offers a fun and colorful escape into a fairy-tale setting that promises to put a big, blue smile on your face!

Wander around the blue buildings of Juzcar
Wander through the streets and admire the vibrant blue-painted houses and public buildings, a distinctive feature that sets Juzcar apart and celebrates its transformation into a Smurf-themed village.
Literally pretty much every single house is painted blue! At times I felt like I was wandering through the streets of Chefchaouen in Morocco! And the fun thing is is that the residents who live here love this feature. So every couple of years they add a fresh layer of blue paint!

Discover all of the colorful murals around town
These artistic creations bring to life the beloved characters and scenes from the Smurfs’ universe, adding a layer of enchantment to the village’s already picturesque setting. Each mural tells a story, from Smurfette dancing among the flowers to Papa Smurf wielding his magic, offering visitors a playful and immersive visual journey.
The murals not only serve as charming backdrops for photographs but also as a testament to the village’s unique transformation and embrace of pop culture.
And in the past years the locals have added even more murals, not all of them related to the Smurfs but it makes the small village even more fun to walk around!
💡 TIP – Follow the Cartoon Trail to find all of the murals – The map is located at the beginning of town.

Check out the different viewpoints
These are the two best viewpoints that you absolutely can’t miss when visiting Juzcar!
Mirador de la Torrichela – A wonderful viewpoint in town that has one of the best overviews of the blue colored houses. While you’re here make sure to grab a drink and some fresh tapas at Bar Torricheli.
Mirador del pueblo de Júzcar – From here you’ll have a stunning view over the entire blue town of Juzcar from the other side of the valley. There’s no designated parking space so when we were driving away to our next destination we simply parked at the side of the road and quickly snapped some photos.

There’s a small playground for kids at the entrance at the village
César is still a little too young to enjoy a Smurf themed playground but kids from 2 years up will definitely love this extra magical addition to the town.
