In this travel guide I’ll go over everything you need to know to have the best day trip to La Graciosa from Lanzarote. Cause trust me, you really don’t want to miss this little island during your stay!

Our day trip to La Graciosa – Short Overview
11am – Took the ferry to La Graciosa from Orzola
11.30am – Had a drink at one of the beach bars in Caleta de Sebo
12.30pm – Went on a jeep tour around the island.
3pm – Had a late lunch at Caleta de Sebo
4pm – Took the ferry back to Lanzarote
How to reach La Graciosa
This is probably your most urgent question so let’s get right to it!
Head to Órzola – First, make your way to the northern tip of Lanzarote to the small fishing village of Órzola. You can drive, take a bus, or arrange a taxi. If you’re driving, there’s parking available near the ferry terminal.
💡 TIP – There are two rivaling ferry companies so make sure you choose the correct parking lot.
Catch the Ferry – From Órzola, ferries regularly depart to La Graciosa. The journey across the El Río strait takes about 30 minutes. Two main ferry companies operate this route—Lineas Romero and Biosfera Express. Both offer several departures throughout the day.
Arrival at Caleta de Sebo – The ferry will bring you to Caleta de Sebo, the main village on La Graciosa. From here, you can explore the island on foot, by bike, or even in a jeep taxi.

How to arrange your ferry tickets
Arranging your ferry tickets to La Graciosa is quite easy and can be done in several ways to suit your preferences:
Online Booking – This is perhaps the most convenient option. You can book tickets in advance through the websites of the ferry companies, such as Lineas Romero or Biosfera Express. This way, you can secure your spot, especially during peak tourist seasons.
Buy at the Terminal – If you prefer more flexibility or if it’s off-season, you can buy tickets directly at the ferry terminal in Órzola. Ticket counters are usually open well before the first ferry departure of the day.
💡 TIP – This is how we did it. There’s a ferry nearly every 30 minutes but both companies take turns so each company goes to La Graciosa once every 1 hour.
Through a Travel Agency – In Lanzarote, many travel agencies offer day trip packages to La Graciosa which include ferry transfers. This could be a good option if you’re looking to combine the ferry with other activities or want a guided experience.
Hotel Concierge Services – Some hotels in Lanzarote may assist you in booking your ferry tickets to La Graciosa as part of their guest services.
When booking your ferry, it’s helpful to know the departure times so you can plan your trip accordingly. During summer, it’s advisable to book your tickets in advance as the ferries can fill up quickly.

How to get around on La Graciosa
Getting around La Graciosa is part of what makes a visit to this small, serene island so special. Here are the main ways you can explore:
Walking – The island is quite small, with distances easily manageable on foot. Walking allows you to enjoy the scenery at your own pace, and since there are no paved roads, it’s a peaceful way to explore.
Bicycle Rentals – Biking is a popular option on La Graciosa and there are several places in Caleta de Sebo where you can rent bicycles. The island’s terrain is mostly flat, making for easy cycling. This is a great way to cover more ground quickly, whether you’re heading to remote beaches or just cruising around.
Jeep Taxis – For those who prefer not to walk or bike, jeep taxis are available. These can take you across the island to different points of interest. It’s a quicker and less strenuous option, though more costly than biking or walking.
💡 TIP – The tour above is the exact one that we joined together with our baby. We were able to see the most beautiful parts of the island and had an absolute blast!

Boat Trips – You can also arrange boat trips around the island for a different perspective of La Graciosa’s beautiful coastline. This is especially appealing if you want to see more remote beaches or do some snorkeling in less accessible areas.
Each mode of transport offers a unique way to experience La Graciosa, so you can choose based on your interests, fitness level, and how deeply you wish to explore. Whether on two wheels, by foot, or from the sea, the island’s stunning landscapes are a joy to discover.

How much time do you need to visit La Graciosa
The amount of time you need to visit La Graciosa can vary depending on your interests and how thoroughly you want to explore the island. However, here’s a general guideline to help you plan:
Day Trip – Many visitors choose to do a day trip from Lanzarote. This gives you enough time to experience the highlights, such as the main beaches (Playa de las Conchas, Playa La Francesa), and perhaps have a meal in Caleta de Sebo. You can arrive in the morning, explore during the day, and return by evening. This is a common and manageable itinerary, especially if you rent a bike to get around more quickly.
Overnight Stay – If you want a more relaxed pace or wish to enjoy the island without the day-trippers around, consider staying overnight. One or two nights in Caleta de Sebo are sufficient to soak in the laid-back vibe, catch a sunset, and perhaps even enjoy some star gazing, which is phenomenal here due to low light pollution.
Ultimately, how much time you spend on La Graciosa should align with your personal interests, whether it’s hiking, photography, swimming, or simply relaxing by the sea.
💡 TIP – We visited La Graciosa on a day trip from Lanzarote but quickly fell in love with the laid back vibe of the island. We immediately said to each other it was a shame we couldn’t spend the night.

Must see places on La Graciosa
1. Caleta de Sebo
Caleta de Sebo is the beating heart of La Graciosa, serving as the island’s main hub of activity. As soon as you step off the ferry, you’re greeted by its sandy streets and the laid-back atmosphere that defines island life here. This quaint village is dotted with white houses, seafood restaurants, and small shops that lend it a charming, rustic vibe.
Locals buzz around on bicycles or greet each other leisurely, reinforcing the sense of community and simplicity. Whether you’re browsing local craft stores, enjoying freshly caught fish by the waterfront, or just soaking in the serene environment, Caleta de Sebo offers a delightful slice of Canarian culture unspoiled by heavy tourism.

2. Casas de Pedro Barba
Casas de Pedro Barba is a super chill spot on La Graciosa, far away from the usual hustle. It started as a tiny fishing village and has kept its laid-back vibe, with a handful of white houses that look awesome against the sandy shores and the bright blue sea. It’s the perfect place to kick back, forget about your worries, and just enjoy the slow pace. Whether you’re up for some quiet time alone or want to hang out with nature, this little village is ideal for anyone looking to totally unwind and soak in some peaceful, scenic vibes.

3. Los Arcos de los Caletones
Los Arcos de los Caletones is one of La Graciosa’s stunning natural attractions, a captivating formation of volcanic arches that stretch over clear blue waters. It’s a super short hike to the rock formations. Once back at the main road, you can relax on the nearby beach, swim in the inviting waters, or simply take in the breathtaking views that encapsulate the raw beauty of La Graciosa.

4. Playa de las Conchas
Playa de las Conchas is a stunning golden beach and offers striking views of the nearby islets, Montaña Clara and Alegranza. This beach, located on the northern side of the island, offers a more secluded escape compared to the more accessible beaches near Caleta de Sebo. The waves here can be quite strong, making it a fantastic spot for watching the powerful Atlantic at play, though swimming might be better enjoyed at calmer beaches.
In all honesty, Playa de las Conchas is one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen.
