Where To Find The 7 Giant Trolls in De Schorre in Belgium
The Danish artist Thomas Dambo is responsible for creating these beautiful and unique wooden sculptures called “The 7 Trolls and The Magical Tower”. Thomas Dambo specializes in creating imaginative art pieces, sculptures, furniture, and more from recycled materials.
The giant trolls are a gift from the organisers of Tomorrowland and will forever remain on the holy grounds! There are 7 wooden trolls hidden in total and in this guide I will give you all the tips you need to find them!
How to reach De Schorre in Boom
De Schorre is a huge recreational domain located in the town of Boom and it’s completely free to enter!
BY CAR – De Schorre is located between Antwerp and Mechelen and can be reached by taking both the E19 or A12. De Schorre is located on the Schommelei. There’s a ton of free parking space available at P1, P2 and or in the Kapelstreet.

When to go searching for the Hidden Trolls in De Schorre in Belgium
De Schorre is open every single day of the year from sunrise until sunset, except during certain events (such as Tomorrowland). When planning your visit it’s best to check their calendar to see if anything special is going on.
You can go looking for the giant trolls in de Schorre all year round and so far I went looking for them 2 times! I had a lot of fun during Summer but since these trolls are hidden in the forest it’s even more fun and beautiful to do during Fall.
There’s nothing like a crisp Autumn morning to go out in nature and to go hunt some trolls! Plus in the morning you’re not likely to bump into a lot of other people. It’s a pretty popular activity these days so I would advise you to arrive around 9AM the latest.
The 7 Wooden Trolls and The Magical Tower – A Complete Guide
So the thing is, there is no actual map available that includes where every hidden troll is located. You can get a map at the information centre of De Schorre but it doesn’t include the exact location of the trolls.
If you’ve ever been to De Schorre you know that it’s a huge recreational domain and it’s pretty easy to start walking in the wrong direction.
All of the giant trolls are hidden in the nearby forest, except for Una and Joures. They are friends for life and are laying on the grass overlooking the main stage of Tomorrowland and you can easily reach them by simply strolling along the main walking grounds of De Schorre.

To find the other trolls you have to follow the trails that lead into the forest. If you walk up behind Una and Joures you have to go to the right. Soon you’ll bump into a cross roads and to find the nearest troll you have to follow the pathway on the right.
Pretty soon you’ll bump into Kamiel and the Magical Tower! You can climb all the way up the tower which will offer you an amazing overview of the area on a clear day! What’s so special about Kamiel is that when he wears his mask he can speak the language of every animal in this world and any world beyond.

To continue our troll hunt we have to walk back and now follow the pathway on the left! After a couple of minutes you will bump into another crossroads and here you can choose cause both roads will lead you to another troll!
Let’s take the left trail which turns into a wooden platform above the ground. Be careful if you’re with kids cause the wood tends to get a little slippery! Soon you’ll bump into one of my favourite trolls: Arvid!
Arvid is a very eager troll and she loves searching for dead trees to create new and beautiful things! She is especially proud of her nose ring that she got from her great great great great grandmother!

After sitting down with Arvid it’s time to go looking for our 5th troll and he is pretty well hidden! If you turn left after passing by Arvid you’ll walk next to a small lake and there at the other side you can see Mikil!
Mikil is a very strong troll, apparantly as strong as a dragon and he is taking water from the lake with his bucket. If you want to you can get a little closer to Mikil as well! Simply follow the pathway that goes up the stairs and after a few meters you’ll see a “trail” on the left. Be prepared to get your shoes muddy when going down!
After finding Mikil I was down to the last 2 trolls! To find these you have to go down the stairs again, turn left across the bridge and then just keep on walking straight on. After a while there will be a curve in the road and if you look to the left you’ll see an abandoned building, okay more like the remains of a building :p.
And it’s on top of these remains that you’ll find Hannes! He loves sitting up there and he loves to make necklaces with wooden pearls.

Now its’ time to go looking for the last troll and she is rather well hidden. I found 6 out of 7 trolls on my first try during the Summer but I had no idea where to find the 7th one. But this time I wasn’t going to stop until I found it!
If you keep following the trail you’ll walk across a little bridge after a while. A little further there is a little side trail going to the right inside the woods. If you follow this one you’ll bump into little Nora!
Little Nora is the youngest troll and is only a couple million years old. She loves collecting magical stones throughout the day for good luck!

Congrats! You’ve found all 7 trolls on this wooden troll hunt in Belgium!
To make things even easier for you I also created a little map that you can save on your phone and that can help you find the trolls at De Schorre!

Where to stay near De Schorre in Boom
If you’re visiting Belgium and you want to go troll hunting one day it’s best to stay in either Antwerp or Mechelen.
MY PERSONAL RECOMMENDATION – Martin’s Patershof in Mechelen is one of the most unique places to stay in Belgium cause you’ll be sleeping in a church that has been converted into a luxury hotel. Yes, you heard that right! You’ll wake up in one of the most iconic settings and be greeted by the beautiful glass stained windows.
