When planning a new trip the first thing I do is look up the most unique hotels to make the journey even more fun. This can range from a luxury 5-start hotel to a unique AirBnb.
For this list I will only go over the most unique hotels in the world that I have already stayed at. Otherwise I wouldn’t be able to give my honest opinion!
This list will be constantly updated so make sure to save this post to stay in the know!
The Most Unique Hotels in the World
Suryagarh – India
Suryagarh Jaisalmer is by far one of the most unique hotels in the world that I ever stayed at! Tucked away in the vast desert of Jaisalmer in India, this hotel is honestly what dreams are made of. The name hotel doesn’t even do it justice. Staying here is an experience. Breakfast is served in their courtyard, while ducks, white doves, peacocks and donkeys keep you company. Talk about feeling like a Disney princess!
They offer luxury excursions through the desert where staff will be waiting for you, flags raised and a refreshing drink and appetiser in hand.
So if you ever feel like spoiling yourself, don’t hesitate! The area of Jaisalmer was one of my favourites to explore in entire Rajasthan and unlike other cities in India it was actually really clean.

Ritz Carlton – Hong Kong
The Ritz Carlton in Hong Kong is one of the most exclusive hotels in Hong Kong and is located in the tallest building overlooking the harbour. There are several restaurants and the hotel is connected to the most luxurious shopping mall in the city. Rooms are spacious and offer the same stunning view.
What I found most extraordinary is that even that the hotel was fully booked every single staff member knows your name and tends to your every needs and wishes. Booking a Club Room comes with the extra advantage that you’ll have a private driver to take you around the city.

Topas Ecolodge – Vietnam
Tucked away in the hills of Sapa, Topas Ecolodge is a must stay when you’re visiting this region. Every guest stays in their own private bungalow with a private terrace overlooking the misty mountains of Sapa.
The best part? The spectacular infinity pool with one of the most stunning views this world has to offer.

Aura House – Bali
Aura House has to be one of the most unique hotels to stay when visiting Bali. Tucked away in the jungle around Ubud this one-of-a-kind bamboo house. Aura House is part of Green Village and strives to be eco-friendly in every way possible.
The house is perfect for either a group of friends, two couples or a family of four. There are two separate bedrooms, each with it’s own bathroom and upstairs is the main dining room and living area. Every bedroom comes with it’s own private terrace overlooking the Balinese jungle. To top it all off, there is an outside pool, perfect to relax after a day of exploring the surrounding area.
Food and drinks are prepared by Green Village and will be served in the privacy of the house.
Taj Lake Palace – India
Another gem and unique hotel located in the heart of Rajasthain. Taj Lake Palace is located on Lake Pichola in Udaipur. It’s one of the most exclusive hotels in India and holds 83 rooms and suites covered in white marble walls.
You are welcomed at the bank of Udaipur at a private jetty and are treated to the most warming welcome. A private boat then transports you to one of the most unique hotels I have ever seen. As soon as you arrive they will make you feel right at home and a platter of refreshments is already waiting for you.
At the back of the hotel you’ll find the spa facilities and the swimming pool. This used to be the Queen’s private swimming pool that is now open to guests of the Taj Lake Palace.
And if all of this wasn’t enough, you can also get yourself pampered at their unique floating spa: the Jiva Spa boat, offering an experience not the be missed.

Shangri-La – Abu Dhabi
The Shangri-La in Abu Dhabi is the only hotel that offers a view over the Sheikh Zayed Mosque from every room, the pool and their private beach.
Start every day with a lavish breakfast buffet and relax by the infinity pool or lounge on the beach while enjoying a shisha.
The entire hotel is decorated with Arabic abundance and gives you the feeling like walking through a palace.

Scarabeo Camp – Morocco
When visiting Morocco and you’re a little short on time, the perfect way to still enjoy a night in the desert is by going to the stone desert. Only located 1 hour driving from Marrakech and equally spectacular.
Scarabeo Camp offers a unique vibe in the middle of the desert. Although to be honest, it isn’t for the faint of heart. You are staying in the desert so don’t expect too much luxury. What you can expect is some very eager scarabeo’s trying to keep you company at all times.
Fall a sleep underneath the stars and wake up to the sun rising over the mountains.
Wapa di Ume Sidemen – Bali
This unique hotel is located in Sidemen, a beautiful and still very unexplored area in Bali. The amount of tourists here compared to Ubud is way lower and the surrounding area is even more beautiful.
Each villa offers a spectacular jungle view and comes with it’s own private terrace. Go for a swim in the impressive infinity pool or opt for one of the villa’s with a private pool.

Villa Honegg – Switzerland
Villa Honegg is one of the most beautiful and unique hotels in the world that I had the pleasure of staying at! This stunning boutique hotel is nestled on top of the hills overlooking the lake Lucerne. It’s most famous for it’s infinity pool which offers one of the most magical views in entire Switzerland. I tell you, it’s worth it to wake up for sunrise and go for an early morning swim here!
It’s the perfect place for a romantic getaway and indulge in the delicious food and wine pairings that you’ll find on the menu! Or enjoy one of their new activities: a private pick nick while overlooking the beautiful lake Lucerne!

Mithra Cave Hotel – Turkey
Mithra Cave Hotel is one of the most beautiful and unique hotels in the world and can be found in Göreme. It is the perfect place to stay when planning a trip to the wondrous Cappadocia! They have some of the highest terraces in the entire town to admire the world famous balloons during sunrise. Their hotel mascot, Findik, loves nothing more than to pose for photos and if you’re really lucky you might meet some of her puppies as well!
